(Yes, I know it's a Thursday!)
Hello, my friends! How has 2013 been treating you so far? Please share, that's what comments are for and I'm working on catching up with you all now that the holiday season is over! If you're new here, I'm Angie and this is my little series on Lariats and Lavender called New Age Wednesday.
I've been Pagan since I was thirteen and in love with New Age subjects since I was a little girl. I grew up loving being a Leo (and I totally still do!), watching tarot cards be read, reading Animal Speak (one of my favorite reads than and now) and so much more. When I was thirteen, I told my than girlfriend now gorgeous wife that I was Wiccan. She didn't know much about Wicca, and really, neither did I except for what I had learned and read as I grew up, so we started learning together as Wicca "clicked" with her.
I think that is the most important thing about religion, spirituality, hobbies... everything... is that "click."
Over the years, I've realized I am more Pagan than I am Wiccan and I'm into Buddhism, with a lust for learning Hinduism, as well. New Age Wednesday covers all of the above, along with subjects such as Gods and Goddesses, tarot, nature, Sabbats, yoga, cleansing the mind and body, healing, supporting others, stories of the supernatural and so much more. I couldn't possibly list everything, because the list is still growing every week whenever I think of a new topic I'd like to cover.
If New Age subjects aren't your thing, that's perfectly fine! I've never wanted New Age Wednesday to have a preachy feel as that isn't part of who I am. I simply write this for like-minded souls. If that isn't you, please feel free to skip this series and take a look at my other posts!
Anyway! This week, my topic is Your January Guide, a way of highlighting what I'll be posting about this month. Enjoy!

Advice for January: Have you thought about your goals for 2013 yet? If so, remember: you have ALL YEAR to complete them, so don't get burnt out! Also? You can add goals to your list all year long, so don't feel like you need to think of every goal right now!
I have quite a few... Some are BIG and some are small, some are life goals, foodie goals, blogging goals, some are hobby goals... etc. and some are spiritual and mind and body goals. I'll be listing those here, right now!
Read Witch School • Learn more about Buddhism and Hinduism • Celebrate each Sabbat • Grow a Spring garden • Grow an Autumn garden • Make a Pagan supply list and go shopping, or create what we need • Read tarot for others • Arrange our room according to Feng Shui • Document a nature walk every season • Hike and/or Go Camping • Eat healthier • Try a (healthy) juice cleanse • Learn yoga • Learn hooping • Learn belly dancing • Lose 10lbs and go from there until I find my healthy weight • Find a therapist for Jen and I each or one who will treat our mental illnesses together • Find a gender identity therapist for Jen so she can start HRT • More will be added if I think of additional goals!
Please, use my list as inspiration if you'd like. If there's a goal that we have in common, tell me! Actually, even if we don't have one in common, tell me anyway.
If one of your goals is learning more about Paganism and/or New Age this year, I highly suggest:
These reads: Witch School • The Witches' Craft • Solitary Witch • Sabbats.
These stores: Llewellyn Worldwide • The Magickal Cat • Witch Magick Alchemy.
These bloggers: Moondaughter • The Sacred Life of Rain • Roots & Feathers • Gypsy Moth Sol • This Enchanted Pixie • Altered Muse • Throwing Down the Bones • Yellow Porch Light • Rebecca Murphy • The Bohemian Collective.
January's moon phase calendar: Last Quarter - Jan 5th • New Moon - Jan 11th • First Quarter - Jan 18th • Full Moon - Jan 27th.
January's New Age Wednesday schedule: My Pagan Wishlist for 2013 - Jan 9th • Preparing for Imbolc - Jan 16th • Chinese New Year: The Snake - Jan 23rd • Goals I've Accomplished So Far - Jan 30th.
I hope you all have a wonderful, beautiful January!
This is interesting. When I was younger, I considered myself Wiccan - many books still in my library. Now as an adult, I just consider myself positive and loving, with no affiliation. I think it's great you've found an outlet that works for you :) My New Years was amazing. I spent it at an awesome hotel in Downtown Kansas City. The skyline view was spectacular. http://nauticalowl.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteHey girl! Its been a while. :D I hope this finds you well.
ReplyDeleteMy friend's mom started to teach her and I some about Wicca when we were in middle school, but my parents weren't happy about it, so I didn't really get to learn a whole lot. :/ I think I might start looking into it again.
I like your goals, they definitely sound quite interesting and I can't wait to hear about your nature walks. Camping can be a lot of fun as well. Let me know how the belly dancing thing goes, I have always been interested in it... but I am not coordinated enough for it. Haha.

Ooooh, I love a room with a pretty view. :D Your no affiliation type lifestyle is a beautiful thing, being positive and loving is as wonderful as any religion, spirituality, etc. Even though I have faith in my religion and in the Goddess, I also have faith in myself and my ability to set out and do.
ReplyDeleteJENN! Hey!!! It's definitely been a while. Camping is one of my favorite hobbies, I just rarely can go on a camping trip. But hey, hopefully, this year will be different. ^_^ Can't wait to catch up!!!
ReplyDeleteWe definitely have some goals in common, though I didn't write a specific list of resolutions this year. I've decided to take it easy on myself and try to figure out how to do things in small chunks. One of them is reading a chapter (maybe 2) of each of the 10 books I've had on my 'to read' shelf each month. Somehow that seems more manageable and exciting than trying to stick to one.
